Free Training Course Improving your effectiveness in grant applications Monday 5th February, Wednesday 14th February, 10.30am - 4pm, University of Ulster, York St, Belfast
Not for profit organisations derive a major percentage of their income from government, trust funds and other grant aid sources – yet many funders report that they receive large numbers of poorly targeted, badly executed applications. This oneday course will provide a structured look at the issues to be addressed if groups are to make effective applications for grant aid. The course is based on an overview of the criteria for grant aid as laid down by a range of government agencies, trusts, foundations and other funders.
Topics to be covered include: • A guide to researching appropriate funders • How to establish personal links with funders • Recent funding trends - how to get ahead in a competitive environment • The Top 10 reasons why funding applications fail • A step by step guide to writing an effective fundraising proposal • Top tips for successfully constructing a project budget • Arguing for sustainability - discussion on how groups might approach this issue • Effective writing and presentation styles
Admission is free but places are limited. To reserve a place please contact Louise Loughran T: 9026 7287 E: lm.loughran@ulster.ac.uk
